Name: Script Key
Age: Unknown
Sex: Male
Gender: Male
Species: Pony
Sub-species/race: Earth Pony
Physical Appearance: Tall as can be and rather lanky for his size, Script Key is easy to point out in any crowd, standing nearly a head above the next tallest pony. Key is painted with rather common features however, dark brown fur the color of rich earth. Black mane kept short and swept back under a simple pale white fedora which is in direct contrast to his black tail which is shaggy and unkempt, wind-blown from his travels. Black sunglasses cover his chocolate colored eyes. His cutie mark on his flank is that of a key-shaped feather quill scribbling on a blank piece of parchment.
Personality: Our friend Script Key is an odd one. He's a wanderer, making his living through the good graces of the townsfolk he meets whether it be by performing for them or completing whatever task they give him, he doesn't mind. As vaguely mentioned before, Script Key is a performer, to be precise however, Key is a savant of the arts. None of it fails to peak his interest. In fact, Script Key can rarely be found without a saddle bag of fictitious literature (the genre changes as his interests change) as well as writing supplies for when inspiration hits him. Script Key has penned a number of plays and short stories, though the perfectionist in him won't allow the tortured artist release his work until it is flawless. Key has also memorized a multitude of poems and stories by heart to tell or perform for any who'll listen.
As an artist, Script Key is positively enamored with the ideas of romance and true love. As such, the stallion often fancies himself a chivalrous knight of old, always acting like the perfect gentleman when he can and always there with the dry quip or casual flirt. Constantly looking for a new mare to fall in love with. His speech is even old though it doesn't seem as though he does it as an act, rather out of habit. Seeing as how some of the oldest natural ponies still living remember Key, it is a mystery exactly how old the wandering stallion actually is.
Family: Two brothers, Spirit Strings and Lightning Sentinel
Goals, ambitions, aspirations: Aside from his usual romantic ideals, Script Key has no real ambitions and is rather quite happy with his wanderer lifestyle.
Strengths: In addition to his penmanship and showmanship, Script Key has knowledge of swordplay and raw experience in brawls during his time, not the best but passable in a serious fight. As well as extensive knowledge of medicine and all manners of maladies. The adage "lover; not a fighter" can definitely be applied to the stallion.
Obvious weaknesses or vulnerabilities: His perfectionism is as much a boon as it is a hindrance, if an flaw were to be found in his work or even so much as a minor criticism, Script Key would be liable to fall apart and react in a mixture of hatred and self-loathing for a time.
History: Not much is known about Script Key's past to the general public, only that it can be surmised that he is very old. In truth, Key was there when Celestia came into power, the artisan earth pony at the time had found a lone tree growing deep in a cave and drank from the spring that surrounded the tree like a moat. From that point on Script Key felt his heart beat slow to a sleep-like pace. Terrified that he had drank some sort of poison, Script Key was for sure he was going to die within minutes. But nothing happened, so he waited hours, and still nothing happened. A week passed and nothing happened still. A month, a year, and nothing happened still. Suddenly a whole decade had passed and Script Key was still as fit as any stallion of his time. Except as the years wore on, Script Key saw that his friends and family were aging normally and he was not. He looked the same as he did they day he drank from that underground spring. Upon the realization that he seemed to have ceased aging just like the princesses, Script Key ran to them, first talking to Luna (Who hadn't left to assume her guise of Nightmare Moon just yet) who decided to bring it up to Celestia. The two alicorns examined the stallion with their magics and their best physicians but nothing known could determine exactly what had happened to Script Key. They even tried to find the same cave where the spring was located but it was like it had disappeared, unable to find it no matter how they searched. It was like Script Key was cursed to an existence frozen in time. So, to console the stallion in his fate, Celestia made him their official court jester, at least until they found a way to cure his agelessness, however his nigh-immortality was kept a secret and Key always wore a mask when he was performing so his identity wasn't made public and questions weren't raised as to why the ruling alicorns had the jester for decades on end. Script Key would travel with the princesses to the neighboring nations and learned all he could of the arts, as was his job now, and medicine in the hopes to cure himself; all the while performing almost nightly for the Princesses and other dignitaries, whether it be ballads or sonnets or soliloquies. And so some centuries passed like that, the only true companions he found were in the princesses, Script Key’s family having died out all but completely. Except his brothers, you see, Script Key had two younger brothers, Spirit Strings and Lightning Sentinel, though they weren't actually blood-related, but they all bore the same ailment. Spirit Strings had stumbled upon the little spring some decades after Script Key, coming to the Princesses as the earth pony had. Script Key quickly took Spirit String under his wing and made the unicorn personal scribe and attendant to Princess Luna. Lightning Sentinel came a century in to Script Key’s service to the Alicorns. The smallest of the brother’s too had drank of the mysterious font and had discovered he’d contracted the same curse as the older two stallions. Sentinel became one of Celestia’s Praetorians and quickly soared through the ranks to become Captain. The five soon became like a secret family it seemed, all happy and glad to have constant companions in the stillness of their existence. That is, until Luna staged her rebellion and left the kingdom, Spirit Strings at her heels. Ever loyal, Lighting Sentinel stayed at Celestias side and swore vengeance on both Strings and Nightmare Moon for their betrayal. Torn and broken-hearted at the sudden destruction of his precious pseudo-family, Key thought it best for him to leave, so he wouldn't have to pick a side between the two factions. And thus assumed his life as a wanderer, making use of his knowledge of the arts that he had gleamed on the job to pass away the centuries.
Place of Residence: Whichever town he is in at the time.
Other: Applications for both Spirit Strings and Lightning Sentinel will be posted ASAP.
