Personality: Plat is in one might call his rebellious years. He was taunt to be a proper business pony all his life, and while he isn’t sure what to do now, he is doing his best to defy those teachings. He reacts badly when he comes across something that is false, like a fake diamond or someone who lies constantly. He is able to tell on an instinctual level if someone is being fake because of their cutiemark.
He struggles a lot with his talent, as he reacts in a quite draconic way when he comes across something that displeases him. He tries not to, but he doesn’t always succeed.

Strengths: Able to see the value of even things that are not objects. He's quite good at math as well and is able to do it in his head, particularly when its something to do with money.

History:
Before birth
His father was a very wealthy dracony who was getting on in years, and had been looking for a proper mate for decades to sir just the right heir. Merely mating based on love was not suitable for his intentions, he wanted a son that would be able to add more to the family wealth than even he himself had. And to do that he intended on mating with a dracony like himself with a cutiemark in amassing wealth. It took him a long time, for even mares with that cutiemark did not meet his standards.
When he finally found her he was relentless in wooing her. Luckily for him, they spoke the same language. That of money. They spent months mulling over the name, trying to think of just the perfect one. They had long ago figured the pattern of names being correlated to cutiemarks, and so wanted to give their child a name that would best set them up for wealth.
In the end they gave him the name Platinum Vein in part because he didn’t quite look like he could be named Gold anything, and Platinum had more value any how. And the little stripe in his mane.
Childhood
Platinum Vein had an atypical childhood, having been named atypically with purpose to trying to make his special talent in finding platinum veins. Even the ponies best at remembering names found it very hard to remember. He simply did not look like a Platinum Vein. People gave him a multitude of nicknames, few which stuck.
Teenage years
Platinum Vein got his cutiemark when he happened across a relic his parents were buying. He found that it was fake and that was when the the nicknames really started getting creative. As someone who did not have a cutiemark related to his talent, who looked nothing like his name even, there were quite a few things said.
Platinum Vein has made quite a few enemies in his time as a business pony. In his teen years the name Pyrite Dreams caught on like wildfire. It was a name that was infamous. But there was a far more worse name that was whispered around, one he hated even more. Pyrite Dreams was a name he liked because at the very least his parents hated it, it was a form of rebellion.
But Placeholder was a name he did not like even a small bit.
