History:
Saga found her talent in fighting and over time became regarded as a hero to all around her. All was going well until the day came where she came up against A heinous villain. While she was able to conquer them and save the day she wasn't able to save everyone. One of the people who died was the son of a nobleman. This Nobleman up until this point had been a good friend of Saga, but the death of their only child made them do.. Quite extreme things.. The punishment she recieved was steep. The Nobleman had Saga's horn cut off. It was a highly controversial punishment, but his guards carried it out any how. An act they would regret to their very bones.
She was let free after that, they figured that without her magic she was harmless. Indeed... A lot of the bite had been taken out of her. But they were dead wrong. In being betrayed by her closest of friends her heart grew cold to any she had, and any friendships she maintained were only done so to keep up appearances and to keep the benefits that being friends with them had wrought.
Saga did a lot of thinking in how to bring them to their lowest as they had brought her, and it hit her. In her travels she had seen many things and fought many monsters. One of them being windigos. The town itself lived near a mountainous region for which Saga knew for a fact had windigos living in it. They only required the right... Atmosphere... To tempt them down.
She seeded dissent amongst the masses in secret, hiding her identity as she did so. Anger at the inequality, anger at the imperious ways of the nobleman who ruled the town. And the nobleman's ponies could hear the dissent, see the anger brewing. All the while an early winter came to town, and while they tried their best to save the majority of the harvest before it was ruined, their attempts were in vain. Food was tight, meanwhile the Nobleman was eating well. Anger grew even more, as did the winter. It peaked when she finally got them to full on revolt when she, full on and undisguised Saga, came into town and rallied them to take their own town back. One pony was afraid and scared of who would be in charge should they overtake the Nobleman.
Saga, being the hero she used to be, had a reputation for being good... So she took a chance in offering herself. Surprisingly, everyone agreed. The foals.
The Nobleman died in the fire that engulfed his castle, and finally Saga had her revenge. The towns ponies crowned her as the new ruler of their town, and she shared food as best as she good, trading with other towns what they lacked. However, despite the happiness of the ponies, the windigos did not go away... The storm had died down, but they were still there. Why? She wasn't sure....
Small RP section:
The castle of the Nobleman little but stone walls and flames now. What value there had been had been looted before the fire, and the Nobleman died in it. At least, that’s what she would have these ponies believe. She had gone in herself to finish the pony off. Now here she was, surrounded by the cheers of the towns ponies around her and the biting bitter cold. She had caused all this, and they were making HER the ruler of them.
However she could not brig herself to be content when she felt in her heart of hearts that she could do this again. And all Equestria could be under her rule. It could all be hers, all of it. No pony born into power deserved their position any how, they had done nothing to deserve it. She had! She had fought for Equestria so hard, and yet it had allowed her to become this… This… EARTH PONY! She was a unicorn damn it! She wasn’t supposed do be this. So she’d take her revenge on all Equestria It would all be hers.
She looked up as she felt something brush up against her mane, to come face to face with a windigo. She didn’t even have to look around to see that everyone was running away at this point in panic. Everyone had been happy. Every had been joyous… Except her. Saga unsheathed her sword, but there was little she could do against the masses of windigos when she was the only source of hate for miles…
She found herself quickly encased in ice, As no pony was able to cast the Hearth’s Warming Fire, their hero perished and returned as a windigo herself.
She wandered for a long time, causing trouble where she could, but mostly alone. It is worth noting that the windigo herd that killed her did indeed offer her a place in their herd, this apparently being the way new windigos were born.
She did speak to one of the ponies she had once considered her friend, Frozen.... There was one thing she regretted about not doing while she was alive, not having a foal of her own to continue on her bloodline... It was a problem that one could not really solve... But if there was a way she knew Frozen would find it. He was dependable like that, a good asset to have. And once upon a time a good friend. But she could not bring herself to call him that after how the Nobleman had betrayed her.
Then the day came where she bumped into Brannskada the phoenix griffin. Who looked to be the optimal solution and best father. She knew her blood was cursed... But her hope was that blood of this caliber would befuddle the spell. He brought her back to life and much joy was had, as she finally had her horn back as well. And while her body was for the most part well her sprit was still a windigo.
If she did not remember the magic of friendship, she would be killed by the hatred inside her. With the help of Brannskada and her friend Frozen the spark of friendship ignited with in her. However, she did not remain with Brannskada, as the very event that made her realize she really could trust her friends was one in which she also realized she could not trust him.
As Hearth's Warming Eve begun events started to bubble.
There was a boggart going about unbeknownst to all, a boggart feeding off people's fear by mirroring people's greatest fear. Brannskada's fear was that Legacy rejected him an fully fell into her windigo-ness. Legacy's was that Brannskada never really regarded in her in any way but prey, and had only been toying with her and having some fun before eating her like the predator he was. She managed to escape this with a few injuries, and as she ran through the streets Frozen spotted her. As did the real Brannskada, who she made fly off despite his concern for her injuries with words that stabbed deeper than any sword. Saying he was a monster and that was all he would ever be.
Frozen and some others helped protect Saga and they defeated the boggarts together. Saga was happy that everything turned out all right and realized that she could indeed trust Frozen. She was heartbroken to see that she couldn't trust Brannskada when it counted most, and his running away at her words, had Frozen not been there, would have meant the death of her. It had been Frozen who had been her salvation.
She took the gift Brannskada had wanted to give her back to her home with her, but stuck it in a closet and never opened it.
When she turned out to be pregnant with Brannskada's foals she was happy, but a bit saddened that it was over with Brannskada... There was little to be done about it. When she had the foals she nearly died, and would have had it not been for a doctor's quick healing magic.
This sorely disappointed the powers that be, as Saga's only regret in dying had been not having foals. The Reaper had wanted to hold Saga to that, yet she had been yanked from his gasp yet again. He had seen her, she had seen him, she had almost taken his hand. She had almost been to that point of no return. But she had chosen to live, to stay. The one least worthy of a second chance, let alone a third. The Reaper became obsessed with killing Saga. The attempts growingly seemed like assassination attempt. But Saga could see otherwise, she could see The Reaper after her. Her paranoia grew, fearful of even the smallest of things.
And as their attempts grew bigger and bigger she knew she had to do something, but knew she'd sound crazy if she said anything to anyone. But she was becoming a danger to those around her... The latest attempt had been while she was taking care of her foals, and one of them had almost been killed by it. She had to keep from hurting them. She had to leave them. She met with Frozen for what she was certain to be the last time, left her foals to be baby sat with her parents. She wrote a letter bidding goodbye, saying she had to leave and that she was sorry and some more stuff. And then left with her best suit of armor to protect herself.
The Reaper lost her after she did that, unable to find her after she vanished. But it was still in pursuit of her. And it was sure it would find her.
This gave her time to try and think of a solution. It took her awhile, and a bit of research, but she found that a way to evade death perhaps even forever. That sounded quite optimal for her, as she wasn't looking forward to whatever afterlife The Reaper had planned for her. There were weaknesses of course, but she figured that those were nothing a good armor set couldn't solve. Her special talent was to be reckoned with even still. The benefits of being a vampony far outweighed that of remaining as she was.
So she set out to find one. It took years, and those years were hard having to hide from The Reaper while doing it, but once she did.... She did to exactly ask. She took it. According to the book the vampony had to drain most all your blood, then you had to suck in a lot of their blood. She battled the vampony down and did let it get ahold of her neck while it was on its last legs, acting as if she was more weary than she actually was. When she started feeling faint she stuck a dagger in the vampire's belly, causing it to let go, and bit into its own throat, quickly draining the blood from it. (The reason she did this so easily is that during her search for this vampony she also killed little animals and drank their blood. Initially she couldn't even bare the taste, being a pony, and the blood never really stopped making her sick to her stomach, but she knew she'd have to be able to drink all the vampony's blood without gagging or throwing up midway, so that took preparation. Once she was done she patched the vampony up and left it there, knowing that if she killed it that she would have to start her search over again, as the vampirism virus would be neutralized.
After which she was left with a question. It had been four years away from home... She couldn't go back even now, she seemed to have successfully thrown off The Reaper... Maybe she could make a home for herself some where. She had to live in civilization now, near ponies... She picked a land far from any she had ever been and lived there for a good long while. She changed cities once about every fifteen years, keeping everyone at a distance lest The Reaper ever find her again. Every so often it did, but it found her a much harder kill than before. Her windigo spirit relapsed, but seeing as she was a vampony, it harmed her a lot less, still kinda hurt though.
She found a solution with further research and managed to put her soul into a phylactery. (typically used by liches to extend their life. Davy Jone's Heart is an example of one, as well as a certain anime that does this) This gave her full use and capability of her windigo powers.
She has lived many decades in this manner, and is currently a body guard for hire in Manehattenn, the city that never sleeps. The nightlife works well for her, and the ever changing clientele helps her not to have to worry about the fact that it looks like she never ages. That and the fact that plastic surgery has been invented.
